This talk by Joi Ito made a big impact on me because it stands for what I believe, if we want to change things we need to take charge of it now!
This part of the speech makes the point very clear:
So I think the good news is that even though the world is extremely complex, what you need to do is very simple. I think it’s about stopping this notion that you need to plan everything, you need to stock everything, and you need to be so prepared, and focus on being connected, always learning, fully aware, and super present.
With indivineurship you work from the premise that if you want a better financial future you need to take charge of your own economy. Governments, corporates, the economy and you, all sit in the same boat trying to navigate the same stormy sea. So how we can look to government and corporates to provide a safe, predictable financial future? It is futile to think they can.
Not anyone can predict the future, I call it crystal ball living. We draw up business plans, we try to make something new in a time of economic unpredictability and we base everything upon things that “might” happen in the future. In other words you basically sat with a crystal ball and tried to predict the future business environment. To put this thinking in perspective, would you tell your bank manager or investor that you consulted a crystal ball when you drew up the financials and business plan? I doubt you will have the courage to do so.
Planning works, yes, when life is predictable but when you need to react to a sudden change like losing your job, your companies main income stream or the economy collapses then you have to take action. Be a nowist like Joi says in this TED talk.
The indivineur method teaches you how to take action without taking serious risks. You do not risk more than you are prepared to lose within the context and restraints of your current life and situation. Take charge of your own economy today!
